Precursor Chemistry

The working group of Prof. Mathur follows the bottom-up concept for synthesis of nanomaterials. The idea behind chemical synthesis of nanomaterials is the transformation of molecular precursors into materials under retention of structural units, which are inherent to the precursor molecule and also form an integral part of the final solid-state structure of the nanomaterial. The work focusses on the one hand on the synthesis of homo- and heteroleptic mono- and multimetalic alkoxide precursor for gas-phase and liquid-phase processes. The group also investigates new ligand systems with tunable properties to improve their decomposition behavior and adapt molecular precursor to the material synthesis process.
