The fundamental aspects of state-of-the-art research activities will be presented by international experts. A round table discussion with representatives from important communities from Europe (ECerS, E-MRS), Germany (DKG), and other international societies (ACerS, MRS) offers the possibility of interdisciplinary exchange at the highest level. The participants have the chance to become part of this large international community and to grow their network.

The focus of the supporting program at this summer school is on hands-on workshops, in which the contents of the SDGs, human well-being, and materials-well are to be worked out. In addition, existing future strategies of the universities in the areas of functional materials in the fields of energy and medicine will be evaluated, further developed, and newly prepared in workshops. An organized tour through the University of Science and Technology allows all participants to gain insights into excellent research institutions in the field of materials science. It should motivate them for potential cooperation stimulated by the noticeable dynamism and vitality of the university.

In addition to the scientific program, the CSS 2022 Krakow also provides cultural exchange between Poland and Germany through sharing traditions in the evenings. Furthermore, as the old royal city of Poland, Kraków has a variety of architectural features from the eras of Baroque, Gothic, and Renaissance pomp to offer. Cultural excursions such as visits to Auschwitz are planned.
